There’s nothing more comforting than a batch of freshly baked cookies, and these Salted Caramel Sugar Cookies are the perfect blend of sweetness and indulgence. Each cookie boasts a soft and buttery base with just the right amount of chew.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls, hand/stand mixer, baking sheets, parchment paper, microwave-safe bowl

Ingredients

  • For the Cookies:
  • 2 ½ cups 315g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup 226g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
  • ½ cup 100g brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the Salted Caramel Topping:
  • ½ cup 100g soft caramel candies
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • Flaky sea salt for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar: In a separate bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix well.
  • Combine: Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  • Shape and Bake: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheets. Flatten slightly. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden.
  • Prepare Caramel: Melt caramels with heavy cream in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  • Decorate: Drizzle the caramel over the cooled cookies and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
