Welcome back, foodies! Today, we’re diving into the realm of comfort food with a classic favourite: Sweet and Sticky Honey BBQ Ribs.
Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, game day party, or simply craving some fall-off-the-bone goodness, this recipe is sure to hit the spot.
There’s something undeniably satisfying about sinking your teeth into tender, juicy ribs slathered in a sticky, sweet barbecue sauce. And the best part? You don’t need a grill to achieve that mouthwatering flavour – these ribs are baked to perfection in the oven, making them perfect for year-round enjoyment.
Prep Like a Pro
Before we get started, let’s talk prep. First things first, you’ll need to prep your ribs by removing the membrane from the back of each rack. This step is crucial for ensuring that your ribs turn out tender and flavourful, so don’t skip it! Simply slide a knife under the membrane, grip it with a paper towel for traction, and pull it off in one smooth motion.
The Secret’s in the Sauce
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the sauce. Our Sweet and Sticky Honey BBQ sauce is a symphony of flavours – sweet honey, tangy BBQ sauce, earthy brown sugar, and a hint of smoky spice from paprika. It’s a match made in flavour heaven, and it’s guaranteed to take your ribs to the next level.
To make the sauce, simply combine honey, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Heat the mixture until the brown sugar is dissolved, then let it cool slightly before brushing it onto your ribs.
Low and Slow
Now that your ribs are prepped and your sauce is ready, it’s time to get cooking. Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper, and brush them generously with the honey BBQ sauce. Then, cover them with another piece of foil to create a packet, and pop them in the oven.
Bake the ribs at 300°F for 2 ½ to 3 hours, or until they’re tender and cooked through. About halfway through the cooking time, give them a baste with the remaining sauce to keep them moist and flavorful.
Finish with a Flare
Once your ribs are done baking, it’s time to give them that final touch – a quick stint under the broiler to caramelize the sauce and give them that irresistible sticky finish. Just be sure to keep an eye on them to prevent any burning – trust us, you don’t want to miss out on that caramelized goodness!
Dig In!
And there you have it – Sweet and Sticky Honey BBQ Ribs that are sure to be a hit at your next gathering. Serve them up hot with your favorite sides and get ready to watch them disappear faster than you can say “seconds, please!” So fire up that oven, grab your basting brush, and get ready to enjoy the ultimate comfort food experience.
From our kitchen to yours, happy cooking!

- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Prepare the ribs by removing the membrane from the back of each rack. This can be done easily by sliding a knife under the membrane, then gripping it with a paper towel and pulling it off.
- In a small saucepan, combine the honey, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the brown sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Place the ribs on a large baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Brush both sides of the ribs generously with the honey BBQ sauce, reserving some sauce for basting later.
- Cover the ribs with another piece of foil and seal the edges tightly to create a packet. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 2 ½ to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and cooked through.
- About halfway through the cooking time, carefully open the foil packet and baste the ribs with the remaining sauce. Re-seal the packet and continue baking.
- Once the ribs are done baking, remove them from the oven and carefully open the foil packet. Switch the oven to broil and place the ribs under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized and sticky.
- Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
